Rock Hill Getaway

John and have started a little “tradition” to try to get a way for at least one night a month, just spend some time together hanging out, refocusing and of course hitting up some good coffee shops. :) IMG_6750

We went to Rock Hill, SC and found this adorable little coffee shop with the world’s best chai latte – Mamma’s Coffee House. I didn’t take a picture but if it was your first time there you got to sign the building with a permanent marker. I signed the floor – but the walls, floor and ceiling were covered with signatures. It was rad!mama's coffee house

I was wishing it was a warm, sunny day because the outdoor seating was just so charming!

For breakfast we hit up a little local cafe - Lell’s Cafe. I was shocked and delighted when I stumbled across a breakfast burrito smothered in – wait for it – New Mexico green chile sauce!! I flipped out and asked my waitress and she said the owner was from Albuquerque. I lived there for nearly two years and am addicted to New Mexico green chiles. There is seriously nothing like it in the world. It was absolutely delicious! lell's cafe, new mexico green chiles

We didn’t get to spend much time in charming downtown Rock Hill because nothing was really open yet, and it was freezing cold!downtown rock hill

We ate Friday night dinner at a little local pizzeria – Luigi and Son’s Italian Restaurant – and for dessert I had the most amazing Cafe gelato – imported from Italy. It was smooth and creamy and chocolately and so yummy… and they let me keep the cute little glass cup!

We had a delightful little getaway. :)

Wedding! Ruth & Mahlon

Back in February John had the honor of photographing his little sister Ruth’s wedding. It was beautiful.. in a little gazebo just off a gorgeous Florida beach..

I had the incredible joy and honor of standing next to Ruth as her bridesmaid, watching as she promised herself to the one she loved. I’ve always felt very protective of her, and it made me so happy, knowing the guy she was marrying, I could trust him to cherish her forever. Yes, I cried.

Birthday, cupcakes, tulips and… a parrot?

My birthday was on the 10th, and my family loves birthdays. We seriously do. It’s an event, a celebration.. time to be together and have fun.. do things we don’t normally do. My family really went all out for me and it made me feel so loved.
They know how much I adore cupcakes.. so that was the theme. And spring. Tulips.. hyacinths. :)

The name places were real tulips in miniature pots. The “dirt” was chocolate bunches. I probably ate a 1/4 of my dirt before dessert.

We played Yahtzee. I got second! And I never even got a yahtzee. And here’s where the Parrot comes in. See him on my dad’s back? His name is Tarzan.

He’s not very smart. He dances though. Makes you laugh like a fool cuz it looks so funny and cute. He’s a show off.
Like I said, they know my love for cupcakes. Check out the wrapping paper! Its just edible. :)

My cake. My littlest sister made it.. isn’t is beautiful?

All these pictures are iPhone.. as I forgot my camera at home. I’m starting to realize I do that a lot. =/ Anyway.. I had such a wonderful party with my amazing family.. I hope you all are blessed to have a family who loves you like mine does me.
Keep calm and have a cupcake!

coffee shop ~ mini session ~ love

We got to do a mini session of one of my best friends and her boyfriend. They’re very carefree, fun people and love books and coffee and hanging out. So naturally we had a lot fun in a coffee shop/book store. :)

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light

It’s time to celebrate! To stop and remember why we celebrate Christmas. God – Jesus Christ, became one of us, so he could understand our feelings, pains, joys, so that he could understand the temptations we face and the joy of victories, the sadness, the happiness that we feel throughout our lives. Just for us. To be one of us, to live in us, to save us. That’s how much he loves us.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows – light! sunburst of light! You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy. Oh, they’re so glad in your presence! Festival joy! The joy of a great celebration, sharing rich gifts and warm greetings…
For a child has been born – for us! the gift of a son – for us!

Engagement – Ruth and Mahlon

Where would I even start telling you about this couple? =} I was really suspicious of Mahlon at first. I didn’t know him at all. I had to test him. Ruth is two months and a day older than me but I still feel very protective of her. =] But over the last few months of watching how Mahlon loves her, talks to her, makes her laugh.. all my suspicions faded away.

Instead I stand back in awe of how beautiful it is when God creates love between two people. How he fills in the weaknesses of one with the strengths of the other.. both ways. How much light and life Mahlon has brought into Ruth’s eyes.

And how much she has brought into his. I love watching them together. They make love look incredible.

We had so much fun getting to create their session in such a gorgeous place- first the sunrise in an orange grove and a few hours later in a palm tree jungle!

I love how much fun they have together. How playful they are. How much they laugh.

Aren’t they just adorable together?

So excited to have John able to do some of the photos with me again! I feel like a very crippled team when I’m doing the session alone. The next photo is his.. :)

I love watching them together, being with them together.. but mostly, I just love them. And I’m so thankful to be part of the same family. =}
